The Institute of Archaeology comprises four departments: the Department of Environmental Archaeology and Human Paleoecology, the Department of Prehistory, the Department of Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages, the Department of the Middle Ages and the Modern Period. The institute also runs three laboratories: the Laboratory of Documentation, Conservation, and Collection of Archaeological Monuments, the Bioarchaeological Laboratory, and the Traceology Laboratory.
The Institute of Archaeology’s current status in Poland and Europe is the result of the long-term scientific, teaching, and organisational efforts of the archaeologists and representatives of many other research disciplines employed at our institution.
The institute boasts a complex of modern buildings and equipment adapted for specialised archaeological and conservation research: two lecture halls, six classrooms, four laboratories, and a computer lab.
Free internet access – eduroam – is available throughout the entire complex. The Monuments Room and the Collections Department hold over 2 million archaeological sources.
We invite you to VR tour of our Institute
and the Faculty.
