It contains comparative botanical and zoological collections and gathers bioarchaeological data, including palynological and archaeozoological materials. It also maintains a map archive and conducts analyses of historical and contemporary geographic, environmental, and landscape contexts. The facility includes an archaeozoological and paleobotanical laboratory (palynology and anthracology) as well as an archive of topographic, historical, and geomorphological maps.
